Job Description:
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is seeking dedicated
individuals to join our team as Correctional Officers. This role is
critical in maintaining the security and safety of federal
facilities, ensuring the humane treatment and rehabilitation of
inmates. Correctional Officers play a key role in the enforcement
of federal facility regulations and contribute to the BOPs mission
of running secure and humane correctional institutions. Enforce
rules, regulations, and laws within federal correctional
facilities. Supervise the activities and movements of inmates,
preventing disturbances and escapes. Inspect facilities to ensure
they meet security and safety standards. Escort inmates within the
facility or between secure environments. Manage inmate behavior and
intervene during crises or altercations. Conduct searches of
inmates and their living quarters for contraband items. Prepare
reports on inmate conduct and facility operations. Operate control
rooms, monitoring inmate activities and facility operations. Strong
interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to react quickly
and effectively in high-pressure situations. Understanding of
criminal justice and correctional systems. Knowledge of
self-defense and restraint techniques. Proficiency in the use of
security equipment and computer systems. Medical Insurance Dental
Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Completion of a
comprehensive training program provided by the Federal Bureau of
Prisons. Certification in CPR and First Aid. Any state or federally
issued license relevant to carrying firearms (if applicable to the
role).
