Job Description Job Description Role Summary Our client is a
large, multi-billion-dollar healthcare organization operating
outpatient medical centers and wellness clinics focused on
accessible, community-based care. This Medical Director –
Infectious Disease role is an outpatient physician position open to
Family Practice or Internal Medicine Physicians with infectious
disease experience. The role combines direct patient care with
clinical oversight responsibilities in a fully staffed outpatient
environment. The schedule is predictable, with no routine nights or
weekends. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality outpatient
medical care while meeting established productivity and quality
standards. Manage a minimum of 14 patient visits per 8-hour shift
(or 7 visits per half-day session), with proportional adjustments
for extended shifts. Deliver comprehensive primary care services
for chronic conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, asthma,
hyperlipidemia, COPD) and acute conditions (e.g., infections, HIV,
STIs, UTIs, respiratory illnesses, minor injuries). Complete
clinical documentation same day or within 72 hours, including
accurate evaluation and management (E&M) coding. Oversee
patient scheduling workflows to minimize no-shows and support
productivity goals. Collaborate with front-desk staff, care
coordinators, and nursing teams to manage scheduled, urgent, and
walk-in patients. Review laboratory results, imaging studies, and
consultant reports in a timely manner. Process prescription
renewals within defined turnaround times. Monitor and respond to
patient communications (voicemails and electronic messages) daily.
Support patient retention and continuity-of-care initiatives.
Supervise and provide clinical oversight to advanced practice
providers (NPs and PAs), including chart reviews or audits as
required by regulation. Participate in assigned after-hours on-call
coverage. Maintain required certifications, including HIV-related
specialty credentials. Utilize 4 hours of protected administrative
time per week for full-time physicians, in accordance with policy.
Required Qualifications MD or DO with an active, unrestricted
medical license in the applicable state. Valid DEA registration and
furnishing/prescriptive authority as required. Minimum of 2 years
of outpatient clinical experience. Infectious disease physician
experience required. Prior experience diagnosing and managing
patients in an outpatient primary care setting. Ability to
comfortably manage 14–18 patient visits per day in a supported
outpatient environment. Willingness to obtain AAHIVM certification
within 18 months of hire. Current CPR/BLS certification. Preferred
Qualifications Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal
Medicine. Prior outpatient HIV or infectious disease-focused
clinical experience. Experience supervising or mentoring advanced
practice providers. Education & Skills Doctor of Medicine (MD) or
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO); board certification preferred.
Strong ability to interpret and apply clinical, legal, and
regulatory information. Excellent verbal and written communication
skills for patient care and clinical documentation. Strong
organizational skills with attention to documentation accuracy and
timely follow-up. Analytical skills to apply ratios, percentages,
and basic statistical reasoning to clinical productivity and
operations. Advanced critical-thinking skills to address complex
