The Surgical Technician-Non-Certified at WRMC OR plays a critical
role in supporting surgical teams by preparing operating rooms and
ensuring all necessary instruments and equipment are sterile and
ready for use. This position is essential in facilitating smooth
surgical procedures by anticipating the needs of surgeons and other
medical staff during operations. The technician assists in
maintaining a sterile environment to prevent infections and ensures
compliance with hospital protocols and safety standards. They
collaborate closely with nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgeons to
provide efficient and effective patient care throughout surgical
procedures. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to
positive surgical outcomes and patient safety within the WRMC
operating room setting. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma
or equivalent. Completion of a surgical technology training program
or equivalent experience in a surgical environment. Basic knowledge
of surgical instruments, aseptic techniques, and operating room
procedures. Ability to follow detailed instructions and work
effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Physical
ability to stand for extended periods and handle surgical equipment
safely. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working as a
surgical technician or in an operating room setting. Familiarity
with WRMC policies and procedures related to surgical services.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Strong communication skills
and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary
team. Willingness to pursue certification as a Surgical
Technologist in the future. Responsibilities: Prepare operating
rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile
supplies according to the specific requirements of each procedure.
Assist surgical staff during operations by passing instruments and
supplies, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and
maintaining the sterile field. Ensure all surgical instruments and
equipment are properly sterilized, cleaned, and maintained before
and after procedures. Monitor and restock surgical supplies and
equipment to maintain readiness for upcoming surgeries. Adhere
strictly to infection control protocols and safety guidelines to
maintain a sterile and safe operating environment. Collaborate with
the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow and timely
completion of surgical cases. Document surgical procedures and
instrument usage accurately as required by hospital policies.
Skills: The required skills enable the surgical technician to
efficiently prepare and maintain the operating room environment,
ensuring all instruments and supplies are sterile and readily
available. Attention to detail and knowledge of aseptic techniques
are critical to prevent infections and maintain patient safety
during surgeries. Effective communication skills facilitate
seamless coordination with surgeons, nurses, and other team members
to anticipate needs and respond promptly during procedures.
Physical stamina and manual dexterity are essential for handling
surgical instruments and standing for long periods. Preferred
skills such as prior experience and certification enhance the
technician's ability to contribute proactively to the surgical team
and adapt quickly to the dynamic operating room environment.
