Cook position at Woodland Recovery Center plays a vital role in
preparing nutritious and safe meals tailored to the dietary needs
of patients, residents, or clients. This role ensures that food
preparation meets strict health and safety standards while
accommodating specific dietary restrictions and preferences. The
Cook collaborates closely with dietary staff and healthcare
professionals to support overall patient well-being through quality
food service. Attention to detail and consistency in food
production are essential to maintain high standards and customer
satisfaction. Ultimately, the Cook contributes to a positive dining
experience that supports recovery, health maintenance, and comfort
for those served. Minimum Qualifications: Proven experience in food
preparation or cooking, preferably in a healthcare or institutional
setting. Ability to read and speak English to understand recipes,
safety instructions, and communicate with team members. Basic
knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards. Physical ability
to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks required in
a kitchen environment. Capability to follow detailed instructions
and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Preferred
Qualifications: Certification in food handling or culinary
training. Experience working with special dietary needs such as
diabetic, low-sodium, or allergen-free meals. Familiarity with
healthcare facility protocols and patient-centered food service.
Additional language skills to support diverse patient populations.
Strong customer service experience within a healthcare or social
assistance environment. Responsibilities: Prepare and cook meals
according to established dietary guidelines and menus. Ensure all
food is prepared safely and hygienically, adhering to health and
safety regulations. Assist in planning and organizing kitchen
activities to maintain efficient food production. Maintain
cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation
areas. Communicate effectively with dietary staff and healthcare
professionals regarding meal requirements and special requests.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as
needed. Stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as
chopping, stirring, and plating food. Climb stairs as necessary to
access different kitchen or storage areas. Skills: The required
skills such as customer service and food preparation are essential
for delivering meals that meet both nutritional and personal
preferences of patients and clients. Manual dexterity is used daily
to handle kitchen tools safely and efficiently, ensuring quality
food production. The ability to read and speak English facilitates
clear communication of instructions and safety protocols, which is
critical in a healthcare setting. Standing for extended periods and
climbing stairs are physical demands that support the dynamic
nature of kitchen work and inventory management. Preferred skills
like specialized dietary knowledge and additional language
abilities enhance the Cook’s capacity to provide inclusive and
attentive service, improving overall patient satisfaction. Bradford
